Call me Garrett
Hi. My name is Garrett Dawson, and I'm a graphic designer and web developer for hire. Like a mercenary with Photoshop. I also do other fun stuff - photography, poetry, art. Need a website? Holla.
I've been designing for the last several years, both print and web. I've worked collaboratively with a local marketing agency to complete major websites, and have worked independently for small businesses. I'm familiar with all the major open source CMSs available today.

Indie rapper Sole needed to abandon his very antiquated commerce solution. I built him an efficient commerce store on Drupal.
Drupal is an exceptional e-commerce platform, as there are a slew of contributed modules that all fit nicely together for the perfect custom commerce store. Bonus! Drupal is open sourced and secure, as Drupal core is maintained by thousands of developers. Punch yourself in the eye if you're thinkin about zencart. Design wise, Sole wanted something extremely naked, with large text. I think we got that.

Poor Richard's is a Colorado Springs fixture. After over 30 years in business, they needed a real website
This was a collaborative effort by Jason Herzog, of Edifice Creative, and myself. Not only did we rebuild Poor Richard's tired website, we enabled them to manage their content by building their site on the Joomla platform; additionally, we generated their social media profiles, so that they could take advantage of their online presence. Side note that's not really a side note. We also redesigned their brand.

Young General Dental Practice has been serving the dental needs of Des Moines, Iowa, for over 45 years. They finally needed a website.
I collaborated with Kathy Lariviere of Three Rivers Promotions (The Iowa Connect). I think this is exemplary of the wide network that the internet spreads across the world, making possible collaborative efforts that would not have been easily executed before.

The Inner Space is a community space for the exploration of spiritual practices, like meditation and Qi Gong. You know, stuff like that. Like so many communities these days, they've harnessed the communal aspect of the web in order to promote themselves
The Inner Space desperately needed a solid and secure website on an extremely tight deadline, as their previous website had been hacked to pieces by evil php scripts and sql injections. I delivered them from the devilry of an insecure Wordpress theme, and migrated them from wordpress.com to an actual hosted Wordpress solution.
killtheliterate.com
killtheliterate.com is a zine collective. It predominantly features Colorado artists, be they poets, painters or photographers.
This is the first website I built, and I learned a lot making it. The design has been through several iterations, each one improving upon the last. Because it's an art site, the design can be as creative as I like. This site features a minimalistic design approach, and will be relaunched soon with a design based on a grid system.
